Adams Base, Ania, is home of the Stellar Corps 32nd Division, Specialized Assault, and a standard, fully staffed, extraterrestrial base of operations. Adams Base is about 10 millipars northwest of Leverrier's biodome.

Ania is one of the closer moons of Loese, so base residents have access to some of the most private and beautiful space and recreation in the Kelos System. Citizens are not permitted in some of Loese's space, so base residents have almost exclusive access to several orbital activities, tours, and recreational trips. Ania has a very expansive cross-country ski program.

On one of the first moons settled in Loese space, Adams Base was the first military base established in 22029 GST. The base was named after Admiral Christopher Adams of the Stellar Corps who died in the line of duty.

More than 3,000 family housing units are on post and the base offers many social, religious, and recreational activities to support the families. Adams Base has a large shopping center, five schools, a hospital, and ten recreational activity centers.

Base Layout[]

Adam's Base falls in two biodomes, one reserved for the Adam's Base Spaceport and the other for the base itself. There is restricted access to both biodomes either through Adam's Base Spaceport or through the train and Below Surface Transitway connecting Adam's Base with the Leverrier biodome. Adam's Base Spaceport has a civilian quadrant with its own Below Surface Transitway to Leverrier. The Adam's Base Military Quadrant is restricted to civilians and houses the 32nd Division and Defense spacecraft and vehicles. There are detached bunkers from the biodome for the more specialized or large vehicles.

The primary dome is divided into four even quadrants: Administration, Residential, Adam's Base Training Quadrant, and Adam's Base Operations Quadrant. Adam's Base Residential Quadrant and Adam's Base Training Quadrant are in the northern quadrant and connect to the Adam's Base Spaceport. Adam's Base Administration Quadrant and Adam's Base Operations Quadrant are in the southern part of the dome and have higher access restrictions.

Region[]

Adams Base is located in the Damia Planitia, a large iceflow northwest of Leverrier. Damia Planitia at the equator of Ania in the eastern hemisphere.

Climate[]

None. The biodome regulates the temperature at roughly 392 kin and 70% humidity.

Geography[]

Built on the Damia Planitia, there are no other geographical features in the vicinity. The biodome is built in a standard spherical design, with a biogarden in the center of the structure that generates most of the dome's atmosphere. The base is decorated with an alpine theme, because of the surrounding iceflow and so many evergreens are planted throughout. The biogarden is a huge evergreen forest on a small hill above the base grounds. Except for domestic animals, no other animals were brought to Adams Base.

Society[]

There is very little social life at Adams Base apart from the military life. Although there are a great number of families located here in the ample housing, a grass roots community has yet to develop. Most free time is spent in the base's few bars and restaurants or simply at home and in nearby parks. There is some civilian work on the base and so the family of military personnel often pass the time by working in the marketplaces and for the park system. For recreation, the base offers some impressive cross country skiing on Damia Planitia, spacecraft tours of nearby moons, recreational games, and sporting events in Adams Stadium.

The average population of Adams Base if 15,000, but this number fluctuates dramatically throughout the year as members of the Stellar Corps are transferred or dispatched. The base offers several temples and churches for a variety of faith, however most of the inhabitants follow traditional Kelos religion. The official base language is Armikel, however there is strong support for Helic Sign and Raj. To support the family, the base also runs a school for all academic ages.

Adam's Base is very technologically advanced and is on par or superior to mainstream Kelosian technology. With an emphasis on military research and development there is a great deal of work done on spacecraft and interstellar transportation. Adam's Base has access to photon communication technology, nuclear fusion technology, and its proximity to an interstellar spaceport gives it access to frequency bypass transportation technology. The Kelos System also has traveling access to an Antheonic Ring and commonly utilizes Atheonic Technology for some destinations in interstellar travel. Although weapon systems are generally limited to ballistic technology, some higher military activities use energy weapon systems technology. The base is limited to gravity-managed biodomes and extra-dome activity requires spacecraft. Aircrafts are not used at all in the proximity of Adam's Base, however hovercraft and automobiles are. Currency is managed through the Credit Unit System and there is no legal form of local currency. Adam's Base also has ready access to TerraNet and the city-grid is completely duplicated and functional on that system.

History[]

Founded in 22029 GST, Adams Base was built as an outpost for the Crystaldeep military after the Arrq Invasion. Used almost exclusively as a relay station and training camp for deep space combat, the base was relatively unpopulated up until the turn of the century. The 32nd Division was established in 22098 GST and Adams was chosen as their headquarters for its remote location. The population was increased and fed into the nearby civilian biodme Leverrier, causing large expansions in the once remote settlement.

Adding some very crucial training programs, the Stellar Corps turned Adams Base into the elite of the forces. Some sophisticated and otherwise unheard of techniques and technologies are used at Adams, including many special operations programs.

Economy[]

An entirely military economy, Adams Base generates roughly 12,000 jobs and a fully functional service economy within the biodome. Civilian economy bleeds in only in the form of spacecraft transportation services, amounting in 7% of the total revenues generated by the base. Most of the monies are provided by the Congress of Crystaldeep, who allots the base 56 billion KeCU per GY. Adams generates an addition 12 billion per GY with its self-contained service economy consisting of recreation, goods, and entertainment.

Politics[]

The issue of politics is not brought up in mainstream Adam's Base society, because members of the Stellar Corps must always vocally support the Congress of Crystaldeep. Because the base is such a training powerhouse and an integral part of the Loese economy, it is rarely used for political leverage. The Loese governor, Ania governor, and Adams general all work closely together to ensure the base is politically safe. Entirely under Stellar Corps law, the base is strictly administered and run by the upper echelon of Corps military ranks.
