Benz City has the one of the highest populations in UNATA. It is home to the offices of the Congress of Crystaldeep, located in the center of the city, in Congresional Park, making it the legislative capital of the Congress of Crystaldeep.

Its population is more than 10 million (22150 Congressional Census) and its land area is 2 square centipars. The Benz Metropolitan Area boasts a population of over 20 million.

History[]

Benz City started as a fishing settlement in 21667 GST and it increased greatly in population during the 21800s GST and became the largest city on Crystaldeep by 21835 GST. It grew to become the center for industry and commerce in the early 21900s GST and was home to the planet's tallest buildings by the 21930s GST. After social decline in the mid 21900s GST, Benz saw a rebirth of economy in the finance industry circa 21980 GST. By the end of the 21900s GST, Benz became one of the most cosmopolitan cities on the planet.

Benz was one of the first cities the Arrqs attacked in the invasion of 21997 GST. Several of the famous buildings built in Benz's prime were destroyed and the Battle of the Eastern Front caused enormous damage to Benz's subterrain eventually collapsing most of the island it rests on.

During the Highlord Alliance rebuilding, Benz got a face-lift circa 22002 GST. Many buildings were rebuilt on the ocean floor, creating a grid of water streets. Benzers stopped using subways and began using boats. By 22010 GST Benz City developed the most efficient waterway system on the planet. Many of the suburbs also converted their collapsed underground passages to canals.

Over the next twenty years Benz became a prominent figure on the map again. With the advent of hovercrafts, the Benz canal system became even more efficient and clean. In 22122 GST, Benz City created a skyway system for small personal aircrafts and shuttles. Now the network of travelways tower hundreds of decipars into the sky. Many of the buildings were connected at several intervals, eliminating the need for many to use travelways at all.

Benz City has become a model in environmentalism, culture, and architecture. Considered one of the most beautiful cities on Crystaldeep, it is the target for interstellar tourism and business. Second only to the Rolan oil business, Benz leads the Kelosians as a financial and cultural epicenter in the system.

Benz City Government[]

Although the local government still exists, Benz has almost completely subscribed to Congressional and UNATA law. The mayor and state legislature are local representatives of the UNATA congress.

Geography and Climate[]

The city lies in Benz Harbor, and downtown actually is in the harbor, having very little solid ground in between the buildings. The climate is humid and since it is built on water, the temperature changes are not very drastic. Winters are fairly cold with some very large snowstorms. Summers are equally hot and temperatures frequently exceed 414 Kin.

Demographics[]

The median income for a household in the city is 73,345 KeCU. There are 10,430,238 people, 4,034,399 households, and 2,934,493 families residing in the city. There are 73% Kelosians, 11% Highlords, 6% Helics, and 10% other species in the city.

Economy[]

Benz is the cultural and financial center of UNATA, putting it as one of the leading cities in the Kelos System altogether. It has always been home to various stock exchange companies and still leads the planet in architectural and industrial innovation. Benz's tourist industry is bigger than ever, attracting many species from all over the galaxy.

Token Interstellar Spaceport is located in Benz and is one of the largest and busiest spaceports in the Kelos System.
