Most of Hollowstar uses a base-10 system of numbering that works well for simple operations on small numbers.

Engineering System[]
During the reign of Algen Galvin, the massive engineering department developed a pronouncable system of numbering for giving model numbers. The system alternated bases 18 and 5. Unlike most numbering systems, the first digit is the least significant. Because of the dual systems and the existence of 0, multiple words can evaluate to the same number. For example, Iban, Ibanana, Fan and Ion are all equal to 8 in common numbering.
The engineering system of numbering includes all 23 letters of the Hollowstar alphabet. Engineers only use this system for model numbers - always practical, an engineer will choose whatever system of numbering seems best at the moment, which is seldom the complex 5-18 system.

Scientific System[]
The astronomers and physicists of Hollowstar have developed another system, designed to handle huge and tiny numbers in a simple notation. It works on a variation of base nine, allowing negative digits. All values written in this system are understood to be the natural logarithm of the intended value.
