Ranunculus xodinicus, the Kookomesha, is a flowering plant of the buttercup family. It is a native of planets in the Jaezath System, most notably Xodus. It is common in many habitats, including woodlands and scrub. It is very different from many members of the buttercup family in many respects, and alike in many others.

Description[]

The Kookomesha (Ranunculus xodinicus) grows up to 70 centimeters in height. The bright yellow flower is roughly five centimeters in diameter and has 13 bright yellow, glossy, tear drop shaped petals. A single slower grows on each long, leafless stem.

Medical Usage[]

Kookomesha is possibly the best (and only) complete reverse agent for the poison felled bile. Caffiene and Nicotine can be used too, but they are mere suppressants and only hold off the imminent death for a short time. The Kookomesha breaks down the poison until it is relatively harmless and only causes mild stomach upset and some head aches... a lot better than death.

To use, twelve Kookomesha flowers (not the duplicate, which will contain poison itself) must be used in an herbal brew. If taken without its counterpart (felled bile) in the system, Kookomesha will cause extreme damage. Symptoms of this may include:

  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Significantly decrease appetite
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Sweating
  • Indigestion
  • Skeletal muscle spasms
  • Seizures
  • 20% chance death, no known antitodes available
