Create Your Own Worlds

Basilicus is a massive world-building project focusing on the Basilicus Prime Galaxy, a fictional galaxy with several interstellar civilizations. Content ranges from space opera science fiction to magic-rich fantasy worlds. Hundreds of locations, organizations, creatures and technologies are available. Since it is licensed with the GFDL all materials can be used for both non-commercial and commercial purposes.

Following are guidelines for using or contributing to Basilicus.

Respect the Basilicus Convention
Follow the GFDL
Do not contribute materials on existing worlds, locations, species or any conventions native to Earth: this is a completely fictional setting
Do not use Earth-bound concepts and measurements. We ask that you use Basilicus Weights and Measures instead of feet, meters, minutes, etc.
Utilize formats laid out in the following articles:
If you change something in an article, make sure that it is changed in all other applicable articles. Everything in Project Prime must be consistent and accurate with itself as if it was an actual place.
Before changing a concept, think of adapting your own first and discuss it on the discussion page of the article. There may be a reason for the community to have something a certain way.
Find unwritten locations in existing articles and start creating.
If you have a question go to the discussion tab of the page and ask. The community will respond and help you out.

Project RPG

One of the major applications for Basilicus is content for roleplaying games. Each Basilicus article can have roleplaying game rules associated with it and Project RPG strives to make that happen. If you have an open gaming system (GFDL or GPL) you are welcome to add game rule articles to existing Basilicus content.

From the beginning it was meant to be the largest and most detailed virtual world ever created. Hyperbolic and idealistic mission statements aside, the intent was to create a very detailed fictional setting for anyone to use in their fiction and games. Speculative fiction is saturated and Basilicus is an attempt to put everything in one place, for free, for everyone. I'm inspired that even after I retired the community persisted and now as I return, I believe it is important to, as the founder, drive energy back into the mission and transform this flickering symbol into a ground-breaking reality.
