The National Productivity Standard (NaPro) is a system of measurement used to describe the overall annual productivity of a nation and/or civilization. Used commonly by civilizations within the Highlord Alliance it measures the productivity of each similar establishment by isolating its net overall profit or loss of similar institutions. This net profit is combined to establish the "mean" productivity amount of all similar institutions. The NaPro percentage is the particular institution's variance from that mean.
For example, if the Kelos System's NaPro is 4%, that means its productivity is 4% higher than the mean productivity of star systems with similar technology, resources, and demographics.
